JVC DLA-RS1XU - If you're looking for CRT-like performance in a 1920 x 1080p digital projector, you don't need to look any further than the JVC DLA-RS1XU. It has 15000:1 contrast without using anything like dynamic iris or dynamic contrast enhancement technologies. No screen-door and a decent amount of calibrated light output means you can finally have CRT-like performance for under $5699. As far as we know, the JVC DLA-RS1X will outperform just about any projector on the market by a large margin including the Sony Ruby (VPL-VW100) or Sony Pearl VPL-VW60 or even any of the current 1080P DLP projectors. With a Gennum VXP video processor, its 2:1 zoom lens, and its 80% vertical, 34% horizontal lens shift the JVC DLA-RS1X is easy to position. Combine the JVC-DLA-RS1XU with a Prismasonic anamorphic lens and a 2.35:1 screen for a truly theatre-like experience. The Optoma HD65 is the latest budget projector from Optoma. 1600 lumens, 4000:1 contrast and true 1280x720 resolution. This projector is a great replacement for an Optoma H31 since it's throw lets you pretty much just drop it in place of the H31. For the same price as the Optoma HD65 you may wish to consider the Mitsubishi HD1500U - it has a little more of everything when compared to the Optoma HD65.
Optoma HD7100 and Optoma HD7300 with it's HD3000 Gennum processor are now on clearance. It features a very short-throw lens with horizontal and vertical lens shift to make it easy to get a phenomenal picture. The Gennum based HD3000 external video processor can make the difference from a good image to a great image. The Optoma HD7100 and Optoma HD7300 both feature DarkChip3 DLP chips for true high contrast. The lens on these units is one of the finest ever made and has a focus so sharp that there are very few projectors that can even come close. The Optoma HD81 (1080P DLP) is now available. Combine this with an anamorphic lens for a 2.35:1 constant height screen. Consider that with this combination, you can now get a 160" 2.35:1 screen with an anamorphic lens, a phenomenal HD3000 scaler for under $10,000. As little as a year ago, this combination was previously only available for between $50-250k!!! The Optoma HD803 (1080p DLP) is also now available for well under $3000.

Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 UB - (UB - Ultra Black) now available and on display. Simply the best combination of performance and value on the market today. 4000:1 real contrast even before it's dynamic iris takes contrast up to 50,000:1. Real blacks at a very affordable price. The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080 UB offers similar performance but without the ISF features, additional lamp and mount for those on a more lean budget. Overall, these two projectors represent the best performance on the market (almost as good as the JVC DLA-RS1X) for a much more affordable price.
Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 720 - now available. Epson has done it again. The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 720 is the only projector currently on the market that can even come close to the performance of the Panasonic PT-AX200U in terms of light output AND placement flexibility. We are one of the few places in Toronto that actually carries the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 720. At a price point significantly lower than the Panasonic PT-AX200U, the Epson PowerLite Cinema 720 is a real alternative that's worth considering. $100 rebate and free spare lamp.
Panasonic PT-AX200U - This is the hottest projector on the market right now without question. We've seen it and nothing can touch it in terms of real world performance. It has all the detail of a 720P DLP without any rainbow issues. 2000 lumens (for real) means that you can use this in your living room during the day without having substantial light control. On top of that, it's intelligent light sensor lets you have an optimized image in a dark environment without having to manually make any adjustments when the light conditions change. Ask about bundling this product with a good quality screen and cables. Get it installed within the GTA along with a good sound system and take your movie viewing to the next level. If you're near Toronto, come see our demo unit but be forewarned that once you see it, you won't be satisfied with anything else. THE PT-AX200 AND THE PT-AE2000 are now both available. Mitsubishi HC6000 - The latest from Mitsubishi with high contrast and incredible sharpness. 1080P 3LCD means no rainbow issues. With a motorized zoom and lens shift, this projector is easy to set up. Pair this projector with a 2.35:1 screen and an anamorphic lens for a true theatre experience. At $4399 $CDN MSRP, this projector represents a great value. Bulb life is great at 5000 hours in economy mode or 3000 hours in normal mode. At only 19dB, this is the quietest home theatre projector that we know of. Video processing is top notch with the built-in HQV solution from Silicon Optix. The Mitsubishi HC4900 is a similar projector without the internal HQV processing and without the high-speed auto-iris. The HC4900 is now available for only $3299.
The Mitsubishi HD1000U is now discontinued. It has been replaced by the Mitsubishi HC1500 with 720P and 1600 lumens - great even with some ambient light in the room. Now the HC1500U is only $1249+tax!!!! This makes the Mitsubishi HD1500U the best value on the market. Combine the HD1500U with an Algolith Flea for overall performance that rivals $5000 projectors.
